Meet Modesta Messer, a seasoned Bookkeeper II with more than 15 years of experience in the field. At Account Sense, she manages bookkeeping and payroll tasks, offers financial records advice to clients, and conducts reviews of Washington combined excise tax returns. Modesta specializes in multi-state payrolls and categorizing transactions for maximum tax benefit.
Before her career in bookkeeping, Modesta received her BA in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara. As a clinical behaviorist, she provided therapeutic support and analyzed cause-and-effect scenarios in children with autism and those with behavioral challenges, honing her problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Modesta's career took a turn when she and her husband opened an auto repair shop. For the next 12 years, Modesta took charge of the books and helped run the business from soup to nuts. When a new opportunity came knocking for her husband, Modesta realized how much she loved the organization of bookkeeping, building relationships with local business owners and vendors, and using data to make business decisions. She decided to move into public accounting, and the rest is history!
Modesta is a talented artist who finds joy in painting and drawing. She is also devoted to mastering the art of the croissant. When she's not creating a masterpiece on the canvas or in the kitchen, she enjoys collecting cookbooks, chilling at the beach, exploring local coffee shops and bakeries, hiking, and traveling. Modesta resides in Huntington Beach, CA, with her husband and children.
